Rademeyer joined the Index Investments team in December 2019 as the head of Portfolio Management, where he is responsible for investment performance. He leads the unit in all aspects, ranging from quantitative research to operational integrity, business strategy and distribution. He manages the full investment lifecycle, ranging from quantitative strategy research and development to portfolio construction and trading. He is also the portfolio manager and researcher on STANLIB’s top-performing multi-style equity funds.
Rademeyer holds an MEng (Cum Laude) in Electronic Engineering from the University of Pretoria. He is also a CFA charter holder.
Ryan Basdeo
Portfolio Manager

Industry experience: 15 years
Ryan joined STANLIB’s Institutional Pricing team in 2008 and is a portfolio manager in the Quantitative Investment Strategies team, where he is responsible for fixed-income trading. His specialities include managing equity index funds as well as exchange-traded funds (ETF), balanced funds and structured products. He is also a JSE-registered securities trader and a registered bond trader, has been awarded for the Most Efficiently Managed Equity Exchange Traded Fund in 2018, 2019 (runner-up) and 2020 and serves as a representative on the ASISA JSE ETF committee.
Ryan holds a BCom (Taxation) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and an MBA from Wits Business
School.
Chetan Ramlall
Senior Quantitative Analyst
MPhil (Mathematical Finance), BSc (Honours) (Electrical Engineering)
Industry experience: 3 years
Chetan joined STANLIB in March 2019, after spending 3 years as an electrical engineer in the sugar industry. At STANLIB, he is responsible for smart beta and multi-factor strategies, with hands-on fund management. He is currently driving the AI/ML initiative in STANLIB, where machine learning solutions are being investigated within the investment space, as well as the wider business.
Chetan holds an MPhil in Mathematical Finance from the University of Cape Town, as well as a BSc (Honours) in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He is a registered member of the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
Wehmeyer Ferreira
Chief Operating Officer

Industry experience: 14 years
Wehmeyer started his career with Deutsche Bank in South Africa, where he spent 8 years in the Equity EXCO and held various functional responsibilities over the years from structuring to trading and sales. He also managed their exchange-traded fund (ETF) business in South Africa.
Wehmeyer has been with STANLIB since 2017.Wehmeyer has a BCom (Honours) in Financial Analysis from the University of Stellenbosch and is a CFA charter holder.
Sizwe Mdakane
Quantitative Analyst
MSc (Mathematics), MPhil (Mathematical Finance)
Industry experience: 4 years
Sizwe joined STANLIB in 2017 and previously worked at Sentio Capital Management, where he was an investment manager for 1 year. He was mainly exposed to risk management and stock coverage projects in equity markets.
Sizwe has a BSc (Honours) and MSc in Mathematics from Wits University. He also holds an MPhil in Mathematical Finance from the University of Cape Town, and his research is focused on identifying jump risk, which is an area in risk management that has been given more attention over recent years.
Telita Koorsen
Investment Analyst

Industry experience: 19 years
Telita joined STANLIB in 2003 as a fund accountant on unit trust pricing and later moved to IT, becoming a business and systems analyst in Institutional Ops in 2012. In 2019, she was promoted to senior specialist business analyst, and in 2022, she moved to the STANLIB Index Investments team as an investment analyst, where she is responsible for managing daily portfolio risk and positioning, and executing investment strategies within mandated guidelines and risk limits.
Telita holds a BCom (Accounting) from Potchefstroom University.
Johann Erasmus
Executive Director
BCom (Economics and Law), LLB
Executive Director, Index Tracking Funds and Global Markets
Industry Experience: 20 years
Johann is a founding member and executive director of 1nvest. He has fulfilled various executive roles across Standard Bank over the past 20 years, including heading up the Corporate Wealth Sales and Distribution initiative and the Global Markets Client Structuring Group and was co-head of the Corporate and Investment Banks Legal function. He has a broad range of financial market and banking experience, which includes exchange-traded products, regulatory and legal, structured products and structured derivatives. Prior to joining Standard Bank’s Credit Derivative team in 2001, he practised as an admitted attorney.
Johann has a Bachelor degree in Economics and Law as well as a Postgraduate degree in Law from Northwest University.
Lungile Macuacua
Intern
BSc (Chemical Engineering)
Lungile is a chemical engineering student in her honours year at the University of Cape Town and is also an Allan Gray Orbis Foundation candidate fellow. She joined the Index Investments team as an intern in 2022, where she runs and monitors exchange-traded fund / unit trust NAV and manages redemptions.
Lungile holds a BSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cape Town and aspires to obtain the CFA and become a quantitative analyst.
Paul Botha
Senior Quantitative Developer
BCom (Honours), CTA
Industry experience: 15 years
Paul joined STANLIB in February 2022 as a senior quantitative developer, where he is responsible for developing and maintaining the investment research platform in the Index Investments team and for the AI\ML initiatives roll-out. He was previously at Absa Bank, where he was a data scientist in the Chief Data Office. After completing his articles at the Auditor-General’s office, he has filled various roles at Absa since 2008.
Paul holds a BCom (Honours) in Accounting Sciences from the University of Pretoria and is a chartered accountant, as we as a CFA charterholder.
