6 milestones as 1nvest turns 6

As we close out 2025, we look back at the last six years and highlight six milestones for the indextracking industry and 1nvest.

Index over active

Index funds are dominating: $1.6 trillion flowed into them globally during 2024, while active funds lost $0.1 trillion.

As a specialist index fund manager, 1nvest has benefitted from this trend.

Excellent tracking funds

US investors poured a record $1.1 trillion into ETFs in 2024, smashing the 2021 high. Globally, ETF assets hit $14.6 trillion, and PwC projects $30 trillion by 2029.

Overcoming Covid

Launching during a pandemic? We practised what we preach: don’t panic. Those who stayed invested caught the recovery. Downturns are inevitable – being there for the upside is what counts.

Winning ways

Our first SALTA awards came at age one. Since then, we’ve won annually across the Tracking Efficiency, Total Return Performance, and Capital Raising categories.

It takes a village

Standard Bank Group membership gives us Africa’s largest bank. Platforms like Standard Bank Online Share Trading, Shyft, and EasyEquities put our products at investors’ fingertips.

Home ground advantage

As a South African fund manager with products that cover both local and international markets, we’ve felt the economic challenges of our home country over the last six years, with the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) failing to impress. However, we’re now experiencing the fruits of staying the course.

Six tough years, but patience pays off. The JSE All Share Index returned nearly 40% in dollar terms through Q3 2025 – one of its best performances ever.

Our 1nvest ALSI 40 Fund reflects this. According to Bloomberg, it had returned more than 38% to shareholders as of 3 November 2025.

Collective Investment Schemes (CIS) are generally medium- to long-term investments. The value of participatory interests may go down as well as up. Past performance is not necessarily a guide to future performance. CIS are traded at ruling prices and can engage in borrowing and scrip lending. A schedule of fees and maximum commissions is available on request from the manager. The manager does not provide any guarantee with respect to the capital or the return of a CIS portfolio. These portfolios are third-party-named incubator portfolios. The manager retains full legal responsibility for these portfolios.
